Japanese World Champions 9 Visit (New Zeaiana Preu Auocwttont WELLINGTON, April 10. The world table tennis singles champion, Miss K. Matsuzaki, and Miss K. Yanaizumi, the world doubles champion, will play in New Zealand for just over four weeks and will play five nights a week. Their tour includes three test matches to be played at Lower Hutt on June 23, at Palmerston North on June 23 and at Auckland on July 2. The Japanese players* tour will open at Whangarei on June 4 The tour will cost about £2OOO, and the guarantees provincial associations will have to meet will be the highest ever. These details were given to the annual meeting of the New Zealand Table Tepnis Association in Wellington yesterday afternoon by the chairman of the executive (Mr W. Mullins). Disappointed.—“We are a bit disappointed with the response to the proposed Australian visit, Mr Mullins told delegates. Nevertheless “the tour will definitely take place, as it gives New Zealand players something to aim at and look forward to.” Two of Australia's prominent men players are expected to tour New Zealand in July. Championships.— Tournaments allocated to associations for the 1961 season were: New Zealand championships and inter-island matches, Hutt Valley; North Island championships. Rotorua; South Island championships, Otago. Subscriptions Raised.—The association agreed that the subscription payable by each affiliated association be increased to 8s a team, and for sub-associa-tions increased to 6s a team. While many delegates were In sympathy with the financial difficulty of the. national association they said it was difficult to get money from their own clubs and therefore were not in a position to give a guarantee to the controlling body. The motion to make the increase was finally carried by 45 votes to 36 after the president had ordered a second, and secret, ballot. No Reduction. A move to reduce the number of games in the table tennis inter-association matches from 12 to 11 by deleting one doubles match was defeated by 48 votes to 18.

Canoe Championships. —An Australian canoeist will compete in the New Zealand canoe championships at Gisborne at Easter. He is Brian Harper, who is expected* to represent Australia at the Romo .Olympics^—CE\AJ. :
