Comparison Of Sums Raised The Local Authorities Loans Board authorised loans of £7.7 million in the three months up to the end of December. Of that amount, 15.3 per cent, was raised during the period, according to a statement by the Department of Statistics. Of the £6.6m authorised for the previous quarter, 26.7 per cent, was raised by December 30, and a further 40.3 per cent, was raised by December 31, making a total of 67 per cent, raised at that date.
Ot the loans authorised for the years 1955 to 1958, the following percentages were raised by December 31, 1959: 1955. 98.9: 1956. 96.3; 1957, 94.8; and 1958, 92.5. Of the £ 25.4 m authorised for the financial year ended March 31. 1959, £20.7m, dr 81.3 per cent., was raised by December 31, 1959. From the commencement of the survey, April 1, 1954, to December 31, 1959, authorisations amounted to £ 130.5 m, the amount raised being £ 111.8 m (85.6 per cent.), while £109.9m (84.2 per cent.) was actually uplifted for use by local authorities.
