COLLISION ON MAIN ROAD
Traffic Forced To A Crawl Traffic on the Main South road was forced to a crawl last evening when two cars collided after one had got out of control after it struck a trailer carrying a speedboat. The accident occurred near the Sockburn railway crossing about 7.30 p.m. The road at this point | has been narrowed by work on the construction of an overhead bridge, and the cars blocked moat of the road. One person was injured in the accident. She was treated for a cut on the head at Christchurch Hospital and was discharged. The drivers of the cars, both of which were extensively damaged, were Robert Bruce Millar, and Avis Joan Vernal, both of Christchurch. While measurements were being taken by the police and the cars moved off the road, a bystander directed traffic, with a torch.
