“Result Of Slide, Not Blow-out”

(New Zealana Press Association) WELLINGTON. March 27. The Commissioner of Works (Mr F. M. H. Hanson) said tonight that reports reaching head office engineers indicated that the fall of earth was “the result of a slide and not a blowout.” An engineer had been sent to Wairakei not in connexion with the earth fall, but to confer with the project engineer on the mendinc a broken pipe. The Ministry of Works was concerned that a man should be injured in the earth fall. The area was "hot” and was liable to disturbances. Mr Hanson said.
