State Control Of TV Favoured

“The Press" Special Service , WELLINGTON, March 13. AU television should be placed under State control as being in the interests of the people. This is the unanimous view of the Wellington Presbytery. This was the policy of the Presbyterian General Assembly, said the Rev. W. J. Follow in moving the motipn. It was . seconded by the Presbyterian director of broadcasting (the Rev. W. J Temple). “An appeal should be made, however, to the political parties, urging them not to make a political issue of the control of television,” said the Rev. J. S. Somerville. “It would be a serious thing if television should become a ‘political football’.’’
