HILLARY DELAYED BY WEATHER
Tests Of Equipment At Mt. Cook

Boots, clothing and equipment which he will be using on his next Himalayan expedition will be tested by Sir Edmund Hillary, who is at the Hermitage waiting for the weather to improve before setting out for Malte Brun. The manager of the Hermitage (Mr L. S. Dennis) said this evening that after yesterday’s heavy rain there had been low cloud during the day and' a fresh fall of snow on the mountains, and Sir Edmund had postponed his trip until tomorrow. “Sir Edmund Hillary is going out with the Mount Cook National Park Board’s chief ranger (Mr Harry Ayres), Mr Murray Ellis, of Dunedin, and some members of the National Film Unit who intend making a picture of Sir Edmund Hillary climbing in th* area," Mr Dennig added. He said the party hoped to return about the end of th* week.
