Outsider Wins Newmarket (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) MELBOURNE, March 13. The outsider, Correct (20 to 1), finished brilliantly from well back to win the £5OOO Newmarket Handicap by a head at Flemington yesterday. Correct upset a huge betting plunge by beating Anonyme (5 to 2), with Merry Polly (25 to 1) half a length away, third. The Sydney colt. Noholme, was displaced as favourite on the course when a flood of money forced Anonyme’s price down from 9 to 2 to 5 to 2. Anonyme started favourite at that price. Correct was bred by the Glen Devon Stud, in Melbourne. The studmasters bought the mare. Authenticity, in foal to Tsaoko. Correct was sold as a yearling .for 700 guineas fb a Melbourne manufacturer, Mr A. Brown. Impressive - Win Wenona Girl re-established her reputation as Australia’s champion filly with an impressive win in the £4OOO Sires’ Produce Stakes, over seven furlongs. Wenona Girl, which started favourite at 8 to 4, beat the colt Dalby by a length and a half, with Impulsive, Victoria’s best filly, half a length away, third. The Victorian three-year-old, NUarco, ran a good Sydney Cup trial when he won the £3500 St. Leger Stakes, .over one mile end threequarters. Niiarco, well ridden by W. Williamson, finished very strongly to beat the favourite. Travel Boy, by two lengths, with Dhaulagiri one length and a half away, third. Results:—
