WOMEN’S BOWLS AT GREYMOUTH

Cobden Four Gains Centennial Title

The Centennial Fours tournament conducted by the West Coast Women’s Bowling Centre was concluded on Friday, and was won by the Cobden team comprising Mesdames Alexander. Arthur, Alderson and Geary (s). They defeated Mesdames Mann, Chester, McCallum and Seaton (s), of Westport, in the final by 24 points to 15.

This was Mrs Geary’s first succuss in the West Coast championship, although she had reached the final on previous occasions. Her team gave an excellent performance in winning all 10 of its games in this year’s tournament. Following were the results:— Semi-finals: Mrs Geary (Cobden) 25, Mesdames Shepherd, Buchan, Oakley and Nankivell (Woolston) 10; Mrs Seaton (Westport) 16, Mesdames Henderson, Campion, Stapleton, Fleming (Hokitika) 15. Final: Mrs Geary 24, Mrs Seaton 15.
