Australian General’s N.Z. Visit

(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, March 13. The Chief of the Australian General Staff (LieutenantGeneral Sir Ragnar Garrett) will leave Whenuapai for Sydney by air tomorrow morning after touring New Zealand as the guest of the Government Sir Ragnar Garrett said in Auckland tonight that the talks he had with the New Zealand Chiefs of Staff and with the Defence Committee had been “very useful-’* He said Australia would be happy to play host to as many New Zealand troops as the Dominion cared to send to take part in Australian military exercises. The Australian Army would also like to send troops to participate in New Zealand exercises. The general named July 1 as the date on which Australia would fully model its forces on the American Army organisation of five strong fighting groups to a division. This, he said, would, give greater flexibility than jbrigade groups.
