REWARD FOR A.T.C. CADETS
Brief Visit To Melbourne
Two Air Training Corps cadets. Warrant Officer R. Evans, of No. 24 Squadron, Ashburton, and Flight Sergeant W. A. Donnell, of No. 17 Squadron, Christchurch, will be flown to Melbourne by a United States Navy Skymaster which will leave Harewood at 7 a.m. on March 15. The boys have been awarded the trip for general merit in the squadrons, and each squadron has been allotted a representative as a reward for being past holders of the A.T.C. Efficiency Trophy which No. 17 Squadron has won on two occasions.
At Melbourne the cadeg will be met by representatives of the Australian Air League who will arrange for their billeting and entertainment. During their time in Australia, the Dominion council of the Air League of New Zealand will make an allowance of 5s a day spending money for each cadet The Christchurch branch has arranged, through the courtesy of a photographic dealer, Mr B. Anderson, for Flight Sergeant Donnell to have the use of a 35mm. colour camera so that he can record his visit This will also assist him to lecture to cadets
and Junior Air League members.
The cadets will return to New Zealand on Saturday, March 19. They will be flown to Sydney by Royal Australian Air Force aircraft and from there to Harewood by United States Navy aircraft. •
