CHRISTCHURCH AS DISNEYLAND
Square Reminds U.S. Visitor
Cathedral Square in Christchurch strongly reminded him of Disneyland sprung to life, said an American visitor to New Zealand, Mr Frank Cross of Southern California, at present on a tour of Australia and New Zealand to meet numerous distant relatives who emigrated from Ireland to all parts of the world during the last century.
“However, I am the last surviving member of my own branch of the family,” he said. Mr Cross said that he was involved in the formative stages of Walt Disney’s famous films and the resemblance of Christchurch to Disneyland scenes was striking. New Zealand was an excellent country in which to escape from all the tensions of high-powered American life, said Mr Cross on his way southwards to the lakes and Queenstown.
