CALCUTTA. March 1. The Indian Prime Minister (Mi Nehru) today praised Mr Khrushchev for his efforts to change the atmosphere of the world towards a feeling for peace and said: We are with him.” Mr Nehru was speaking at a reception after the Soviet Prime Minister arrived in Calcutta on his way back to the Soviet Union from his visit to Indonesia, according to British United Press. “He is flying the flag of peace, Mr Nehru said. "His words and actions are directed towards the cause of peace.” There were about 25.000 people at the reception. British United Press said. They cheered when Mr Khrushchev said: “Let the sceptics not believe in it. let the pug dogs bark, while the Indian elephant will march forward along the way selected by him.” Reuters reported that the Soviet Prime Minister made a new plea for world disarmament. ‘‘The ranks of the peace champions are growing in most countries.” he said. “Disarmament will release tremendous resources which are now frozen. The people of countries in need of economic assistance would receive it oh a considerably larger scale.” Mr Khrushchev said conditions were more favourable today for the maintenance of peace than two or three years ago. “Of course, one should try to control oneself in order not to

indulge in any wishful thinkiM and taking something as rtd which, is, in fact, not real,” h* said. Before leaving Djakarta, Mr Khrushchev repeated his earli» r promise to support President So«. karno in ridding Indonesia of all elements of colonialism, British United Press reported. “Between us there are no disagreements on important international issues,” he said. Mr Khrushchev and Mr Nehru held talks lasting 45 minutes in Calcutta. U Nu, the Burmese' leader, who arrived in Calcutta earlier, did not take part in th* talks. Only interpreters were present. Reuters said political observers thought the meeting suggested the likelihood that the statesmen would discuss the calling of a meeting of Afro-Asian Heads of Government before the Big Four summit conference in Parb in May.
