BISHOP HILLIARD DIES IN SYDNEY
Former Bishop Of Nelson Was 83
<N.Z. Press Association— Copyright) SYDNEY, March 2. The Bishop-Coadjutor of Sydney, the Rt. Rev. William George Hilliard, died last night. Bishop Hilliard, who was born in Sydney in 1877, was a third generation Australian.
In 1934, he became Bishon of Nelson. He resigned in 1940 and became Bishop-Coadjutor of Sydney and Rector of St. John’s,’ in suburban Parramatta. He was also Registrar of the Diocese of Sydney. Bishop Hilliard was due to retire as Registrar and BishopCoadjutor in May.
