Bow Bells To Ring Again
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright/ LONDON, February 24. London’s celebrated Bow Bells will ring again in about a year. No child born in the last 19 years can call himself a true Cockney because Nazi incendiary bombs wrecked the bell tower in 1941. Today, Bow Bells rang out over the busihess centre of London—but they were only a recorded version. * . " The carillon was played from the bomb-ruined tower of the St. Mary-le-Bow Church as Princess Margaret drove through the city for the consecration of the now restored chapel in the crypt. Completion, of the Chapel of the Holy Spirit is the first step towards full restoration of the world-famous 11th century church, destroyed by the Great Fire of London, rebuilt in the 17th century, and wrecked again by the Nazis.
