NEW VICAR OF ST. PETER’S
Induction Ceremony And Reception The Rev. J. Thomas, the new vicar of the parish of St. Peter, Upper Riccarton, was inducted by the Bishop of Christchurch (the Rt. Rev. A. K. Warren) last evening. The reception which followed in the parish hall was attended by 300 parishioners. Speeches of welcome to Mr and Mrs Thomas were made by the Bishop, Dr. J. Lewis (people’s warden), Mr C. G. Lancaster (vicar’s warden), and the Rev. R. J. Griffiths (Riccarton Ministers’ Fraternal). Mr Thomas, formerly of the Kennington-Otipua parish, Timaru is the ninth vicar of the parish which was founded 102 years ago. Among those present were two daughters of Archdeacon Croasdaile Bowen, who was vicar from 1858 to 1890.
