ENGINEERING MODELS
Exhibition In Gty This Week-End Model locomotives, traction engines, steam engines, a steam tram and a host of other machines in miniature will be on show this weekend. The Canterbury Society of Model and Experimental Engineers is holding an exhibition at its clubrooms in Rowallan lane, Addington, tomorrow evening, Saturday and Sunday. The society’s outdoor railway track, which includes 2Jin, 3J»n and sin gauge rails set up on concrete pillars will be in full use with model coal fired steam locomotives drawing carriages for children to ride on. Two locomotives will be in operation at a time, drawn from a pool of about six engines, two of which are replicas of current New Zealand Railways locomotives. ■ Inside the clubhouse, compressed air will be used to power some of the other exhibitls. Between 65 and 70 models will be on display. The society has about 40 members, drawn from all walks of life. Several are railway employees, others are engineers, school teachers and professional workers. One man who is still a member, although he is now in Timaru, is Mr N.' M. Izard S.M. For the railway enthusiast there are many models of Interest. The president of the society, Mr J. A. Harrison, will have his 2iin gauge model of a KB 1 locomotive under steam; Mr Colin Campbell is exhibiting a 3Jin gauge model of an AB locomotive; and other members will exhibit models of present and historical British railway locomotives. The exhibition will be open to the public on Friday evening from 7 p.m. to 9.30 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9.30 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
