THIRD PARTY INSURANCE

Motor Unions’ Views On Classes (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, February 24. The merging of Classes 4 and 5 for compulsory third-party insurance was rejected by the council of the North Island Motor Union today. The current annual premium for third-party cover in Class 4 is £2 2s and for cars used at any time for commercial I purposes in Class 5 is £3. The merging of the classes would raise the former and lower the latter charges. The South Island Motor Union had agreed that, in view of the difficulties, classes 4 and 5 should be amalgamated. The North Island council decided to support a proposal to redefine class 5. All motorists not coming into the category should then be in class 4.
