Fined for Assault.—Duncan Macßae, a seaman, was charged before Messrs A. B. P. Large, J.P., and A. W. Parmenter, J.P., in the Lyttelton Magistrate’s Court yesterday with having assaulted Miriama Carney. He pleaded guilty and was fined £lO. He was further ordered to pay Mrs Carney £2. The case for the prosecution was that on Saturday afternoon Macßae used obscene language in the presence of Mrs Carney and then > struck her. Macßae told the Court that Mrs Carney had struck him first
