Press Association—Copyright) SYDNEY, February 15. ’ 1 A leading Australian racehorse breeder and owner is negotiating an ! | “invasion” of top-class Australian 1 ; horses in America. i He is Mr George Ryder, the managing director of Woodlands Stud, J who is trying to arrange air trans- ' port to take 10 racehorses to America (for the Hollywood Park meeting, j which will open on May 11. | Mr Ryder said today that he could jnot clinch any definite arrangements ‘with owners until he completed the question of air transport. | The horses must leave Australia I by April 26 to arrive in America in time to be prepared for the Hollywood Park meeting, at which 2.5 million dollars will be distributed in stake money. i Mr Ryder said he wants to get the best available horses. He said he had discussed the plan with five owners, and from the outcome was confident he would have no trouble getting 10 suitable horses to make the trip. Mr Ryder has made tentative plans for the Australian horses if their owners want them to return. “They could go on to race in New York, then across to England, where they could go into quarantine for six months." he said. Mr Ryder would not disclose the names of the horses.
