STOPPAGE AT BURNSIDE
Men May Resume Today
(New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN, February 15.
Workers employed at the New Zealand Refrigerating Company’s works at Burnside have been called tp a meeting at the works at 8 a.m. tomorrow to hear a report from the branch president (Mr G. R. Ross). It is probable that work will be resumed after the meeting. The men have not worked since February 5. Mr Ross said tonight that the branch executive had a meeting today, and also had discussions with the branch management. He thought it likely that the men would resume work after the meeting. The manager (Mr K. Clark) said tonight that it was hoped there would be enough stock available for a full day’s killing.
It is understood that there is a likelihood of a compulsory conference being called by the Minister of Labour (Mr Hackett). Union officers were in touch with the head office of the Department of Labour today, and this matter was then raised.
