Goods Wanted For Sale
The organiser of the town hall fair in March (Mr G. A. M Hilson) told a meeting of Town Hall Promotion that the public seemed to be in doubt about the type, of goods acceptable for sale. The key to the whole effort was a lot of small gifts he said, and in this, every firm (large or small), societies and individuals could assist. Nonperishable.. goods could now be left at the premises of A. R. Guthrey Ltd., in Moorhouse avenue.
The list of stalls and items wanted is:— Book Stall: Children’s books in good condition, modern reference books, magazines, digests, comics, pocket editions, biographies, travel books, novels, plays.
Variety Stall: Novelties, manufacturers’ samples, handkerchiefs, aprons, oven cloths children’s garments, baby clothes. fancy coat hangers, remnants, tea cosies, throwovers. tea towels, fancy work. bo v s’ pants. Flower Stall: Cacti, plant food, twine, flower pots, garden furniture, dried everlasting daisies, plasticine (old or new), packets of seed, pot plants, floral baskets, beach umbrellas, iris rhizomes, garden tools, vases garden hose, bulbs, pottery, raffia. garden ornaments. Art Stall: Costume jewellery (new and used), paintings, tapestries, . bric-a-brac. old prints antiques, etchings, ornaments. Produce Stall: Stock, eggs, sheep skins, shingle, cream, farm produce, salt-licks, wool, sawdust, sand, swedes, coal, fruit, drinks, grass seed, straw, citrus fruits, groceries, vegetables.
Delicatessen Stall: Jam, meat shapes, meat, honey, tinned foods, smallgoods, preserves, fruits (all descriptions), groceries.
Children’s Stall: Toys in new or good second-hand condition books by good authors. Sweets Stall: Factory and homemade sweets, and toffees of every description. Cake Stall: Shortbread, biscuits, cakes of all kinds, scones, pikelets, tarts.
