Laminated Trusses

Seven laminated radiata pine bowstring trusses, claimed to be the longest in New Zealand, will support the roof of a timber store being built in Auckland. The trusses, each 98 feet 6 inches long, were placed in position on the walls by a mobile crane. Their base beams are made of three thicknesses of nine inch by one inch boards glued together. Five layers of three inch by twoinch lengths of timber were glued together to make up the bow beam.
