SCIENTIFIC CONGRESS

Guest Speakers From Britain (New Zealand. Press Association) WELLINGTON, January 20. New Zealand's scientific achievements and the problems of its scientists during the last three years will come under review in Wellington at the ninth scientific congress in May. While Victoria University students are on holidays the buildings will be taken over by an estimated 1000 scientists.

Subjects to be discussed during the congress, which will begin on May 12, vary from evolutionary trends in New Zealand gener to modern food processing. The highlights of the congress will be the addresses given by two guest speakers. Professor H. S M. Massey, of University College, London, and Professor R. M Barrer, of the Imperial College of Science and Technology, London Professor Massey is one of the world’s leading physicists, especially in nuclear physics Professor Barrer, a New Zealander is a distinguished cnemist. He is dean of the faculty of chemistry.
