Estate Of Mrs A, M. Campbell

Several bequests to charitable organisations in Christchurch are provided for in the will of Mrs Ada Mary Campbell, of Christchurch, who died on December 5, 1959. St. Martin’s House of Help will receive £2OO, and £2OO will go to the Community of the Sacred Name, Barbadoes street. St. Aidan’s Anglican Church, Alexandra, is bequeathed £3OO. The residuary estate, of approximately £lOOO, is to be divided between the Canterbury and Westland branch of the New Zealand Crippled Children Society, and the New Zealand Foundation for the Blind, for the general purposes of its work in the South Island.

The Public Trustee has been granted probate of the will.

Mr R. G. Webb, president of the Invercargill Savings Bank was elected new Dominion president of the Associated Trustee Savings Banks of New Zealand at the annual conference held in Hokitika yesterday. Mr W. G. Hilliker, manager of the Dunedin Savings Bank, was re-elected as honorary secretary—(F.O.O.R.)

The degree of doctor of philosophy has been recently awarded by the University of New Zealand to two science graduates of Victoria University, Mr G. W. Ramsay and Mr J. C. Yaldwyn. Both studied zoology under Professor L. R. Richardson and Dr. J. T. Salmon. The degrees will be conferred in May.— (P.A.)

Medium Surf,— About 850 persons enjoyed warm, if at times windy conditions for bathing at Sumner yesterday. A medium surf whipped up by the norwesterly winds moderated later in the day and bathing generally was safe between the flags.
