City Soprano Overseas

After two years and a half singin? experience in Australia, a Christchurch soprano. Miss Jan Carlisle, sailed for Europe recently, where she will have auditions with the Rome Opera Company and a German recording company. Miss Carlisle hones to work in London eventually, although her plans depend on the outcome of the auditions. Miss Carlisle was a pupil of Dora Drake for three years in Dunedin. After being accepted by the J. C. Williamson company in 1957. Miss Carlisle went to Australia and toured in Gilbert and Sullivan productions, under-studying the leading lady. For some time Miss Carlisle has been living in Melbourne studying singing and appearing on television. Before sailing to Italy, Miss Carlisle spent a month with -her parents, Mr and Mrs I. T..
