LINCOLN COLLEGE WORK
“Year Of Steady Progress”
“Activities here do play a major part in bringing about an increase in primary production not only in Canterbury but in New Zealand,” said the chairman Mr W. H. Gillespie, M.P.) at yesterday’s meeting of the board of governors of Canterbury Agricultural College, Lincoln.
The last year had been one of steady progress and achievement and should have given the board full satisfaction, said Mr Gillespie. The college had never stood better in the eyes of the community. Year by year, farmers were displaying more interest in what was going on at the college and the impact of the college activities, both by demonstration and practice, was more pronounced. “I pay a tribute to Dr. M. M. Burns and the officers with him in bringing this state of affairs about,” he said. “I think we have a very good team here. It is the team spirit which provides the progress. With the team spirit activating in the future, this college will go on from strength to strength." Mr Don Max, a new member, said that farmers in the northern part of the South Island appreciated the work of the college.
