The total value of the rams sold was 2436gns at an average of 213jgns. Last year 102 rams were sold for 2115gns at an average of 207gns. The Arnage Land Company (Marton) gained the highest individual average of 391gns for 15 rams. The top price of 750gns went to ram which fell to the bid of H. J. Dalziell Bros. (Kiwitea) with one Andrew (Makeno), the well-known Gore breeder. Last year the top price of 800gns was shared by the Arnage Land Company and Dalziell Bros. The second highest price yesterday was 700gns and this was paid to the Arnage Land Company, as did also the third at 650gns and the fourth at 600gns. A large proportion of the rams were purchased by South Island breeders. As well as the Makeno purchase, J. Petrie (Christchurch) paid 300gns to the J. A. and N. B. Illston Trust (Marton) and 310gns to Dalziell Bros. M. Brooke (Christchurch) paid 250gns to J. H. Bartlett (Kiwitea) and G. Gibbs (Nelson) paid a similar figure to Dalziell Bros.
In the Press Association report of the Romney sale on Monday the purchaser of one of the two toppriced rams was given as G. Neddies (Timaru) in mistake for G. S. Giddings, of the Meadowslea stud at Fairlie. .
