Jim’s Count Wins At Thames

AUCKLAND, January 10. The Thames Jockey Club’s summer meeting was held in fine weather on Saturday. The track was fast. The double, Jim’s Count In the Goldfields Cup and Taboo in the Flying Handicap, returned a dividend of £llB 7s 6d for £l. On-course the totalisator handled £38,459 10s, including £BlOO 10s on doubles, against £45,326 last year. With about two furlongs to travel in the Goldfields Cup Cinn Mear, ridden by A. J. Parkinson, Oie (G. F. Hughes) Helenita (H. N. Rauhihi) ana Wairere Boy (G. L. Willetts) all fell. Hughes and Parkinson were taken to hospital for observation. Hughes received slight concussion and an arm injury. He was discharged from hospital later in the day. Parkinson, who was thought to be suffering from concussion and abrasions, was kept in hospital for the night.
