CATHOLIC TOURNEY IN AUCKLAND
Seeded Players Beaten (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, December 28. Three seeded players, two from Wellington and one from Auckland, were beaten when the second round of the men’s singles was played in | the New Zealand Catholic lawn tennis championships today. N. Hayde (Auckland) beat the seventh seed, R. Grub! (Wellington), 9-7, 1-6, 6-3, while the sixth seed. K. Greenwood (Wellington), fell to the steadiness of J. Moodabe i (Auckland) in straight sets. The eighth seed,' F. Brennan (Auckland), lost to P. T. Trubovich (Auckland), 6-3, 6-3. The fifth ranked man, the top Wellington player, J. McNeill, almost lost to J. Sarsfield. He lost the first set and faced two match points be- I fore winning the second, 7-5, but took the third easily, 6-1.
