JUNIOR RUNNER EQUALS RECORD
J. Trathen’s 9.9 sec For 100 Yards
(New Zealand Press Association) NELSON, December 19. The Nielson junior runner, J. Trathen, recorded B.9sec for 100yds at Trafalgar Park this afternoon, equalling the New Zealand record. The time will not be recognised, however, on account of wind assistance. Kerry Williams failed in an attempt to better the standard time for the 3000 metres. He recorded 9min 42.25ec, whereas the standard is Bmin Sssec. Nelson retained the Hester Shield by 173 points, to Marlborough’s 122.
