RUSSIAN ATOMIC SUBMARINES
“Three Operating In Pacific”
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) HONOLULU. Dec. 9.
Three Soviet atomic submarines were operating in the Pacific, the Honolulu “Advertiser” said today. The newspaper quoted a reliable military source as saying that the three atomic submarines represented half of the Soviet nuclear submarine fleet. Three others are reported to be with the Soviet Atlantic fleet, it said, according to United Press International.
With probably the same capabilities as United States nuclear submarines, the “Advertiser” said, the three Russian craft easily could range from Russian seaports to Hawaii and back underwater.
