BEEF FROM ARGENTINA

More For U.K. Market

The most recent monthly report from London of the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board States that while supplies of home lambs are now lessening there has been an increase in the arrivals of chilled beef from South America. Recently it was reported from Buenos Aires that chilled beef exports during September—nearly all to the United Kingdom —were up about 48 per cent, on the corresponding month of last rear. This is a reversal of the downward trend which has operated during earlier months of the year. The report adds that it is understood in trade circles that the current trend is due to higher domestic prices for beef in Argentina and that it will continue through the rest of the year. Pitchings of Argentine chilled beef in the United Kingdom in October were about 26 per cent, higher than for the same month a year ago.
