HEALTH STAMP SALES APPROACHING A RECORD

WELLINGTON, December 6.
With two months remaining before the 1959-60 issue of health stamps are withdrawn, sales are £4273 short of the record sum of £147.357 realised for last year’s campaign. Sales for November amounted to £6369, bringing the total sales for this year's campaign to the end of last month to £143,084 an increase of £3397 on the sales for the corresponding period in 1958 The largest increase of any district to date has been recorded in the Auckland postal district where sales of £22,997 are £lBBB higher than last year. Total sales to November 30 in each postal district supplied by the post office today are as follows (last year’s figures over a comparable period are given In parenthesis):— Auckland, £22,997 (£21,109). Blenheim. £1312 (-£1401). Christchurch, £17,289 (£16.482). Dunedin, £11,217 (£11,616). Gisborne. £3300 (£3311) Greymouth. £1863 (£1845). Hamilton, £10.503 (£9780). Invercargill, £5024 (£5357). Masterton. £2367 (£2352). Napier, £7618 (£7099). Nelson, £3323 (£2999). New Plymouth, £4313 (£3881). Oamaru, £2070 (£1645). Palmerston North, £B2Ol (£7559). Thames, £4552 (£4330).
