Death Of Admiral McGrigor

One of the Royal Navy's most famous Admirals, Sir Rhoderick McGrigor, died in hospital in Aberdeen today, aged 66. “Wee Mac,” as the sft 4in Admiral was known throughout the fleet, was First Sea Lord and Chief of Naval Staff from 1951-55. He commanded the battlecruiser Renown in the hunting down of the German battleship Bismarck, and led the Allied naval forces in the invasion of Sicily and the landing in Italy.
