Four Awards Announced (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, December 4. The award of four music bursaries • was announced today by the Minister of Internal Affairs Mr Anderton. The awards are to Jacqueline Stone, of Wanganui, Barry Mar-

gan, ot Auckland, Wallace Woodley, of Dunedin, all pianists, and Sarah Lucas, of Nelson, a ’cellist Mr Margan has been awarded £4OO a year for two years’ study overseas. Miss Stone receives £2OO a year for two years to supplement a Royal Schools of Music scholarship she received earlier this year. Mr Woodley also receives £2OO a year for two years, and Miss Lucas has been awarded £4OO for one year to study in New Zealand. • The daughter of Dr. R. A. Lucas, president of the Nelson Chamber Music Society, Miss Ixicas was a member of the National Youth Orchestra and ot a number of string groups in Wellington. Aged 20. she was educated at Nelson Girls’ College and at Chilton St James. Miss Lucas will continue studying the •cello with Greta Ostova in Wellington. The awards were made on the

recommendation of the Music Bursary Selection Committee. The committee comprised Mr J. V. Meech, Secretary for Internal Affairs (chairman). Professor Charles Nalden (Auckland), Mr Ernest Empson (Christchurch) and Mr Ashley Heenan (Wellington).
