FALSE COMPLAINT TO POLICE
Girl’s Story Of Attack
By Youths (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, November 24. A 19-year-old girl complained to the police that she had been attacked and robbed of £2 merely because she wanted to keep the money—het own earnings—so she could have some money for clothing, the Magistrate’s Court at Auckland was told today. The girl was one of a family of nine and her wages went on the upkeep of the home and her invalid father, said the police prosecutor (Mr K. O. Thompson). Going home one night • she tripped and her clothing became covered in mud.
She got an idea then for keeping the £2 she had by telling the police two youths had knocked her down and robbed her, said Mr Thompson. The girl admitted a charge of making a false complaint to the police. Mr R. M. Grant, S.M., suppressed her name and adjourned the case for three months, to be dismissed conditional on h er good behaviour.
