A.J.C. AUTUMN CARNIVAL
Invitation Race Planned (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) SYDNEY, November 24. The Australian Jockey Club will hold a special £10,250 invitation race on the first day of the Randwick autumn carnival next year. The A.J.C. will invite the best horses racing from throughout Australia and New Zealand to compete in the race. In adding the race to the autumn programme, the AJ.C. has made several changes and has brought the meeting forward one week. Prize money for the autumn carnival will be a record £70,900 —the highest for any racing carnival in Australia. The special race will be called the Randwick Centenary Invitation Stakes and will carry prize money of £lO,OOO and a trophy worth £250 to the winner. The race will be run over a mile and a half under quality handicap conditions—maximum weight 9-5 and minimum weight 7-5. It will be run on the first day of the meeting, Saturday, April 9. The Doncaster Handicap will be run the next Saturday, and the Sydney Cup on Easter Monday.
