Barman Fined £l00 For Bookmaking

(New Zeaiana Press Association) AUCKLAND, November 23. Arrested for bookmaking in the bar of an Auckland hotel where he was employed as a barman, Maurice Clifton OUiver, aged 54, pleaded guilty in the Magistrate’s Court at Auckland today He was fined £lOO by Mr H. Jenner Wily, S.M. The Magistrate said that, as a former hotel licensee, Olliver must have known his duty to see there was no gambling In the bar. The Court could only treat his offence as serious.
