Australia was the seventh largest producer of passenger cars in the world in 1958, according to information released by “The American Automobile” in its annual survey of the world car market. It lists 1958 Australian passenger car production at 90,000 vehicles, exceeding Sweden’s production of 76,000 and Japan’s 49,300 units.
