Boxing Cooper Beats Erskine

Last night’s heavy-weight championship fight between Henry Cooper and Joe Erskine was one of the best he had seen since the war, the “Daily Mirror’s” boxing writer. Peter Wilson, said today. Cooper smashed Erskine to defeat in the twelfth round in defence of hig British and Empire titles. With only five seconds of the round to go, the referee stopped the fight, with Erskine draped over the bottom rope, with his head sagging on the apron of the ring.
