NEW PLANE ARRIVES
T.E.A.L Electra At Whenuapai (Aew Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, November 19. The Tasman Empire Airways Electra, Aotearoa, whispered into Whenuapai just before 2.30 this afternoon after its delivery flight from Burbank, California. About 300 people who watch’d its arrival in a light drizzle saw it roll along the runway with scarcely any noise. The pilot. Captain J. R. McGrane, project manager for T.E.A.L., said the time from Nandi to Auckland was 3hrs 16min and 30sec. Three other captains .on the plane were Captain P. F. Le Courteur, and D. W. G. Keesing, of T.E.A.L., and Captain Ken Kirk, a Lockheed instructor pilot. After leaving Nandi, the aircraft flew at 19.500 ft at an average speed of 402 miles an hour. The Aotearoa will go into service to Sydney on December 1 The next Electra will arrive in Auckland later in the month. 2IN PERCOLATOR TOPS A limited supply of these glass tops now available.
