Competition Winners Announced
Teams from the Avonside club won three of the nine grades in th s winter competition conducted bv the Canterbury Table Tennis Association this year. The full list of grade winners, as announced by the assistant secretary (Mr D. S. Milne) was:— „ , A grade, Selwyn; A reserve, Selwyn; B grade, Avonside; C grade, Avonside; D grade, Avonside: E wade, Phillipstown; F grade, Caltex; G grade. University; H grade, South Brighton. Final results in the five sections to be completed were:— C grade, section three: Deplab, 26 points. 1: Shell, 24, 2; Avonside, 21. 3; Star, 20, 4; Hornby, 13, 5; WhareAvonside; D grade. Avonside; E nui, 12, 6; South British, Teachers’ College (equal), 4. 7. C grade, section four: Eagles 1. 24 points, 1; St, Mary’s, 23, 2; Eagles 11, 20, 3; Avonside, 14, 4: Cartwrights. 9,5; University, 0, 0. E grade, section three: Musketeers. 28 points, 1; Celtic I, 25, 2; University, Motorways, 14 (equal), 3; Mobile Homes, 9,5; Celtic 11, 0. 6. G grade, section two: University, 27 points, 1; Dallington 11, 23, 2; Christchurch Deaf, 19. 3: Avonside 11. 13, 4; Dallington I. 6,5; Avonside I, 2, 6. H grade, section one: Avonside 11. 26 points, 1; Shipping, 24, 2; Avonside I, 16. 3: Christchurch Deaf, 14, 4; University I, University 11, 4 (equal), 5. Results in grade semi-finals and finals were:— C grade.—semi-finals: Avonside beat Redcliffs 9-3; Deplab beat Eagles 9-3.
