Methodist Missionary Union.— Miss Kathleen Shaw, who has been accepted for a teaching position in the Solomon Islands was welcomed by Mrs G. Armitage, president of the North Canterbury district Methodist Women’s Missionary Union, at a recent district meeting. Miss Shaw, who is a member of Durham street Methodist church and is on the staff of St Albans School, will leave shortly to take a linguistic course at the George Brown College in Sydney.

St John’s Young Wives.—A play “The Christening,” written by Mrs A. K. Warren, was presented by members of the St John’s Young Wives’ Group at their final meeting of the year. Those taking part in the production, which was very well received, included Messdames T. Kincaid, A. M. Goldstein, D. Baker, J. Barnes, and O. A. MicheL Mrs H. E. Ellis presided at the meeting.
