AUSTRALIAN WOOL FOR RUSSIA
(N.Z Press Association —Copyright) MELBOURNE, Nov. 17. A £2 million shipment of Australian wool will go soon direct to Leningrad, according to a report in Dalgetys’ weekly wool review. The shipment, of 20,000 bales, would be the first direct Baltic shipment from Australia since 1954.
The Dalgety’s report said heavy buying by the agent for Russian interests was the highlight of recent Sydney sales. His bidding clashed consistently with Japanese buyers and brought brisk trading.
Australian Travel Allowance.— The Australian Government has relaxed the present limits on overseas expenditure because of the improved balance of payments. The present basic individual travel allowance has been raised from £1625 to £2OOO in any period of 12 months.
