Judge Apologises To Juryman

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, Nov. 17. In the Supreme Court at Wellington today Mr Justice McGregor apologised to a juryman whom he fined £1 yesterday for non-attendance and remitted the fine upon the discovery of a clerical error.

The juryman was not present when his name was called yesterday morning and in the afternoon, when he appeared, he said he had misread the notice and was under the impression he was required on November 30. A mistake was subsequently discovered when it was found that the summons served on the juryman was for November 30. His Honour expressed regret for the inconvenience and embarrassment caused to the juryman and excused him from service on November 30.
