Dense Fog In London

LONDON, Nov. 17.

Dense fog today covered the London area and eastern and north-eastern England. Thick fog also blanketed the Irish Republic. Traffic on the new M-one, Britain’s super highway between London and Birmingham, was brought to a virtual standstill. Drivers reported being unable to see beyond the bonnets of their cars. Visibility at Gatwick, London’s second airport, where the West German Chancellor (Dr. Adenauer) was due to arrive this morning, was described as good.
