The My Chief colt was involved in an accident in the New Zealand Metropolitan Challenge Stakes at Addington yesterday and received a cut behind the pastern on his off foreleg. The injury was stitched by a veterinary surgeon and Sun Chief's owner-trainer, S. W. Easton, was advised to do nothing with the colt for three or four days at least. Prince was showing signs of soreness on Thursday and he was withdrawn from the Hornby Handicap. The trouble is responding to treatment. and it is hoped to start him in the third day of the meeting.
