POST OFFICE AT AIRPORT

Official Opening On Monday

Providing a full range of postal facilities, a new post office, to be known as Christchurch Airport, would be opened at Christchurch International Airport, Hare wood, on November 9, said the Chief Postmaster (Mr R. Elcock) yesterday. The office, which is in the new terminal building, will be declared open by Cr. A. R. Guthrey, chairman of the City Council’s airport committee, at an informal function at 9 a.m. It will be under the control of Miss N. C. Twomey, who was previously in charge of the post office at the Wigram air force station. Miss Twomey's assistant will be Miss D. Holmes. Mr Elcock said that after the new office is opened, the existing one at the Harewood settlement will be closed.
