SPECIAL RESCUE COURSE

Search And Radio Techniques lErom Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON, October 12. Next Saturday 100 members of the Christchurch District Search and Rescue' Organisation will attend a course on general search techniques and radio procedures at the Pioneer Sports Club, Christchurch. Those taking part in the course will include Mr L. D. Bridge, of the Federated Mountain Clubs, Mr D. Gorman, of the amateur radio emergency operators, Chief Superintendent F. N. Aplin, of the Police Department, Squadron Leader C. Kelly, R.N.Z.A.F., and the chairman of the New Zealand organisation. Mr T. R. Pike. Similar courses have already been held in Auckland and Wellington, and a course is to be held in Dunedin early next year. On Friday afternoon the course will go to Wigram to inspect high-level rescue equipment there. This special gear is kept in reserve at Ohakea and Wigram and is immediately available if the need arises.
