BRASS RAND TITLES
N.Z. Men To Play In Australia
Two New Zealand bandsmen— B. Aldridge, of Derry’s Band, Christchurch, and R. Sutton, of the Invercargill Garrison Band—will leave Christchurch by air on Thursday for Ballarat, where they will compete in the Australian brass band championships. Sutton is the present New Zealand euphonium champion and Aldridge was runner-up in the tenor trombone championship held in Wellington in February. Mr J. Aldridge, of Auckland, will travel with the bandsmen as accompanist for their solo playing, and Mr V. A. G. Aldridge, conductor of Derry’s Band, will also attend the championships.
